Women on the Move LIVE: ON BEING JEWISH NOW
Pride, Laughter and Terror Under the Six-Pointed Star
Jewish Writers Speak Out
With Talia Carner, Annabelle Gurwitch, Nicola Kraus and Lihi Lapid
in conversation with Zibby Owens
What is it about being Jewish that connects us no matter where we live, how we work or if we even go to synagogue?
Food? Culture? Humor? Tradition? History?
In the wake of the October 7 tragedy in Israel — the worst pogrom since the Holocaust — and the rising antisemitism in the following months, American Jews felt a solidarity that many didn’t know existed. People found themselves speaking out in ways they never had, putting on the Jewish stars they hadn’t worn in decades, experiencing a pride they had long forgotten.
Now, 75 writers share their funny, poignant, sad and emotional thoughts on that unique bond that reflect our joy and trauma, love, loss and family ties in the new book, On Being Jewish Now.
Twenty of those authors will join us, and we will get to hear from five of them for a conversation led by the volume’s editor, publisher and contributor Zibby Owens.
With:
Talia Carner: proud 7th-generation Sabra and author of six bestselling novels
Annabelle Gurwitch: New York Times bestselling author, actress, activist and longtime cohost of TBS’s Dinner and a Movie
Nicola Kraus: #1 New York Times bestselling author with over 6 million copies of her books in print
Lihi Lapid: Israeli author, photojournalist and newspaper columnist
Zibby Owens is an author, podcaster, bookstore owner and CEO of Zibby Media.
All proceeds from the sale of the book will go to support the work of Artists Against Antisemitism, which raises awareness of antisemitism, promotes education about Jewish history and culture, helps those who experience Jewish hate to fight against it and works to help build a kinder, brighter, more understanding world within the arts.
