ABOUT ABOUT

Zibby Media Presents: Molly Jong-Fast

Molly Jong-Fast rose to fame as a literary “it” girl by taking readers on naughty tours of the world of her youth, the decadent domain of New York City’s bohemian jet set, which included her mother, writer Erica Jong, whose Fear of Flying launched her as a second-wave feminist icon.

But after two novels and a memoir, Molly moved away from dissecting the Upper East Side and took a dramatic turn to politics, eventually becoming an editor at large at the Daily Beast, a contributing writer at The Atlantic, a special correspondent for Vanity Fair, a political analyst for MSNBC, a podcast host and relentless social media poster.

Once Erica was diagnosed with dementia, however, Molly returned to her earlier theme, turning the tables on her mother, who had regularly used her daughter’s most excessive moments as literary fodder. The result, How to Lose Your Mother, is a shockingly brutal yet hilarious memoir about her convoluted relationship with the elusive woman whose dreamy glamour she longed for but who always seemed out of reach.

Molly joins us to share her story about losing a mother she never really had and to offer comfort to those who love people who drive them crazy; in conversation with Zibby Owens, author, podcaster, bookstore owner and CEO of Zibby Media.

An optional lunch with the author to follow.
