ABOUT ABOUT

Since January 20, 2025, the new administration in Washington has set in motion what many view as a direct challenge to civil rights, civil liberties and our democratic institutions.

This includes policies aimed at the rights of many communities: mass deportation of immigrants and refugees; the elimination of all diversity, equity and inclusion programs; barring transgender people from serving in the US military or accessing critical healthcare; undermining access to reproductive care; and the freezing of all Department of Justice civil rights litigation.

This has come alongside the removal and targeting of public servants for political reasons, the freezing of federal funds and other efforts to consolidate executive power.

What do these actions mean for the future of civil rights and democracy? How can we move past the uncertainty of this moment and take meaningful action?

Join us for an insightful discussion with two of the nation’s foremost civil rights leaders: Amy Spitalnick, CEO of the Jewish Council for Public Affairs, and Maya Wiley, President and CEO of the Leadership Conference on Civil and Human Rights.
